The Tosamaidan-Yusmarg Trek is a moderate to difficult Himalayan adventure, winding through pristine meadows, alpine lakes, dense forests, and remote valleys in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pir Panjal range. Starting from Tosamaidan (10,500 ft)—the “King of Meadows”—the trek spans 45 km and takes trekkers through nine stunning alpine lakes, three rivers, and vast undulating pastures, culminating in the lush meadows of Yusmarg.

This eight-day odyssey offers a rare glimpse of untouched Himalayan landscapes, where snow-capped peaks, glistening lakes, and vibrant flora and fauna create a mesmerizing spectacle. Best undertaken between June and September, this trek is ideal for experienced trekkers seeking a mix of scenic beauty and adventure.

Itinerary

📍 Day 1: Arrival in Srinagar → Drive to Tosamaidan (50 km, 2-3 hours)

• Pickup from Srinagar Airport.

• Drive through Budgam district to Tosamaidan, the starting point.

• Explore historical meadows: Gujjerbahak, Guttemarg, Chinamarg, and Badshahmarg.

• Overnight camping at Tosamaidan under the stars.

📍 Day 2: Tosamaidan → Kharasar Lake (Trek: 7 km, 5-6 hours)

• Trek through lush meadows with panoramic views of Pir Panjal peaks.

• Reach Kharasar Lake, a serene, crystal-clear alpine lake.

• Camp overnight beside the lake.

📍 Day 3: Kharasar → Damam Sar & Navkansar Lakes (Trek: 9 km, 6-7 hours)

• Trek past serpentine rivers and high-altitude pastures.

• Visit Damam Sar & Navkansar Lakes, shimmering glacial-fed water bodies.

• Camp with a backdrop of snowy peaks and starry skies.

📍 Day 4: Navkansar → Bodh Sar & Pathri Sar (Trek: 10 km, 7-8 hours)

• Challenging yet rewarding trek to Bodh Sar & Pathri Sar Lakes.

• Encounter Himalayan wildflowers and nomadic Gujjar settlements.

• Set up camp near Pathri Sar.

📍 Day 5: Pathri Sar → Lakut Sar & Pam Sar (Trek: 8 km, 6-7 hours)

• Trek to Lakut Sar & Pam Sar, the final alpine lakes of the journey.

• Surrounded by rugged cliffs and breathtaking reflections.

• Relax and soak in the peaceful beauty of the high-altitude landscape.

📍 Day 6: Pam Sar → Chalyan Pathri (Trek: 9 km, 6-7 hours)

• Trek through dense pine and fir forests towards Chalyan Pathri.

• Overnight camping in a tranquil meadow setting.

📍 Day 7: Chalyan Pathri → Yusmarg (Trek: 8 km, 5-6 hours) → Drive to Srinagar

• Trek to Yusmarg, the “Meadow of Jesus” with lush greenery and river views.

• Explore Doodh Ganga River and surrounding landscapes.

• Drive back to Srinagar.

• Overnight stay at houseboat/hotel in Srinagar.

📍 Day 8: Departure from Srinagar

• Transfer to Srinagar Airport for departure.
